Stars 13u Red win Fall Ball Championship!!!

Stars 13u Red win PBI Fall Ball Championship!!!

The Stars 13u Red Team won the 2014 Fall PBI 60/90 AAA Championship today, besting the PBI Eagles.  The Stars 3-2 win was earned on dominating pitching by Gabe Mounkhall & Shane Brosnan.  Mounkhall went 5 & 1/3 innings with 5 strikeouts.  After letting up two unearned runs in the bottom of the 1st inning, the Stars answered right back scoring two runs in the top of the second inning on a Shane Bronsnan single.  Mounkhall took the mound in the bottom of the second and the Stars defense completely shutdown the opposing bats.  Jack Wren, Mike Reilly, Joss Hindin, Dylan Olsen, Jake Lagana and Tyler Sepinski recorded out after out, frustrating PBI's batters.

After pitching 5 & 1/3 hitless innings, coach Eric Roe sent Shane Brosnan to the mound to relieve Mounkhall.  Brosnan picked up where Mounkhall left off and quickly put down PBI in the sixth inning.  In the top of the seventh, Jack Wren singled to left field and was moved over to second on a sacrifice by Mounkhall.  With two out and a full count, Chris Davis smashed a single to center field giving the Stars a 3-2 lead.  In the bottom of the 7th inning, PBI's lead off batter recorded their first hit of the game.  When he attempted to steal second, catcher Joe Giudice fired to 2nd Baseman Joss Hindin who slapped down the tag and sent the only PBI hitter of the game back to the bench.  Brosnan finished off the last two batters with infield ground balls giving the Stars the Championship!!!

Competing in the "Cooperstown Classic" in late August the boys smashed a total of 15 homeruns and went 4-2 in pool play, having lost only two games by one run.

The Clarkstown Stars won the American Amateur Baseball Congress (AABC) North Atlantic Super Regional Tournament against teams from Connecticut, New Jersey and New York.  The Tournament took place from July 24 to 27 in Tuxedo, NY. The teams attending the Regionals qualified by playing in district tournaments.

The Stars finished 4-1 in the tournament.  In the Championship game, the Stars beat the Bergen Express 6-2 in extra innings. Liam Hehir put together a great outing on the mound.
